Title
WELL OF THE SHELLOverview/Concept
I will compare a massive amount of iPhone cases. I will explore its possible forms, and will expose its ugliness. I will explore the actions and sounds involved with phone cases, such as the “crack” of the shell. Lastly, I will explore the background and the source of those plastic shells. For example the extraction of the raw oil, the transportation, refining, converting, the sale of it the use, finally the destruction and the disposal and. I play a big collection of those shells, which will be interupted by short clips of the lifecycle of those. navigate through these connotations and make comparisons in an organic, intuitive and fluid notion. I will make the transitions in the way that it speaks to the viewer in a unique and destructive way. Afterwards the viewer will understand the background and source of those protection shells.Key Message
I want the audience to feel disturbed by the video. I want them to be surprised or shocked by the two contrasts. The first message is shown by the shallow collection of a massive amount of industrial produced iPhone cases. It represents the beauty of massproduction and consumerism. The second message is complementary it is about the background of those cases, the ugly and destructive use of raw oil to produce plastic and its further use. The key message is produced through the comparison of the collection and the source of it.Research
I found the awesome documentary, “Es geht ein Barrel auf Reisen”. In it every important step of the journey of oil is described. Extraction, (transport), converting, (transport), production, (transport), sale, (transport), use, (transport), garbage, (transport), recycle?Visual/Conceptual References
In the video tutorial how to datamosh inspired me for this my own video. It almost looks like oil and has this nasty and sticky feeling.Audience
The intended audience is more a openminded and critical one. So more people over 18 years old but because of the very technical and disturbing look less people over 40 years. It will be more like an artistic video than a storrytelling one.Content Planning
I have to gather stuff, order and align it and put it together to a video. I also need videos of the way of oil and the process of plastic manufacturing. I think I can’t make them on my own, time isn’t long enough.Technologies /Materials
I will be working with still imagery and short video clips. The most of the content will be collected over the internet.Bibliography
Here are the sources that I used for inspiration:http://bitsynthesis.com/2009/04/tutorial-datamoshing-the-beauty-of-glitch/
